"The prize of the International Jury for the Best Documentary has been awarded to Those who said no, by Nima Sarvestani, who had the courage of, after decades of silence, to deal with the theme of atrocities committed in Iran over the last 30 years. For the way in which the temperance and deep human kindness of the witnesses who gave evidence at the International Court of Justice are portrayed, and who are still fighting to let the truth be known. A difficult road to take, even today."

Nima Sarvestani travelled to the Movies That Matter festival in The Hague this week. His film Those Who Said No was awarded with the Camera Justitia award. The jury said: “A beautiful documentary about militancy and perseverance that grabs you by the throat but conveys hope as well which made, in the end, Those Who Said No the winner."

One person can make a difference.
Those Who Said No won the Václav Havel Jury Award in the category ‘Right To Know’at the One World Festival in Prague this week.

The jury said:
“This documentary is first and foremost a message to whoever commits human rights violations: they will be held accountable. Impunity for human rights violations is intolerable for victims, their relatives, and for the society as a whole. Even years after the violations occurred, Iranian victims and their relatives had the power to join forces to reclaim justice – ignoring how much control one might have over State mechanisms or how powerful one might be. The perseverance of those victims and their relatives deserves the highest recognition, because in the spirit of Vaclav Havel they are the proof that one person can make a difference.“

We couldn’t agree more. The film’s main protagonist Iraj Mesdaghi travelled to Prague to take part in the Q&As following the screenings. ” "
